Where are the Trails?
Mill Creek Trail System and Surrounding Ozark National Forest Trails
Depending on your riding style, our area has enough trails and sites to keep you busy for a couple of weeks! We've ridden our whole lives and still find trails we've never been on before. To hit the ATV/UTV trails from Pig Trail Lodging, you do not have to trailer. Enjoy riding in and out of the park on your ATV/UTV while staying with us. We recommend downloading a mapping app on your smart phone or tablet. These apps use GPS to track your exact location on the trails. We recommend the following:
On your Android device, search and download the "GPS Ski Map by Maprika" app in your app store. Then, search and download the "2023 Ozark Naitonal Forest OHV/MVUM" map.
On your Apple device, search and download the "Avenza" app in your app store. Then, search and download the "Traveling the Backcountry, Ozark National Forest, Boston Mtn RD" map and the "Traveling the Backcountry, Ozark National Forest, Pleasant Hill RD" map.
What else is there to do in our area?
Our area has many points of interest for folks who prefer to tread a little more lightly! Please remember that if you want to visit any of the state parks/recreation areas to leave your ATV/UTV back at camp.
Floating, Fishing, and Swimming the Wild and Scenic, Mighty Mulberry River
The Mulberry River is only about a half mile south of Pig Trail Lodging! The closest river outfitter from us is Turner Bend. Contact them for shuttle services and canoe, kayak, and raft rental.
Like our waterfalls, the Mulberry River levels depends on rainfall. Water levels rise and fall fairly quickly. When the river is low, the Mulberry River is a great place to swim and catch fish, especially small mouth bass! For more information and rules regarding river usage, click here.
Riding the Scenic "Pig Trail" Highway 23
We are located on the scenic "Pig Trail" Highway 23! Get on your motorcycle and ride the famous Pig Trail as it cuts, zigs, and zags through the Ozark National Forest with just about every kind of scenery imaginable from rivers to waterfalls to mountain views. In addition to the twists, turns, and pretty views, the Pig Trail is also a part of American history, having been used by both the Union and the Confederacy during the Civil War. Put simply, the Pig Trail has it all… Exciting curves, beautiful scenery and centuries of American history. For more information about riding the Pig Trail, click here.
Hiking the Ozark Highlands Trail
The Ozark Highlands Trail (OHT) is a hiking trail that crosses the Ozark National Forest and is recognized as one of the most scenic trails in the US. Starting at Lake Ft. Smith State Park on Arkansas 71. Several trailhead access points are located in our area. Hikers in need of rest stay with us often! For more information about the OHT, click here. Besides the OHT, there are several other hiking opportunities in our area, including the trails around White Rock and Redding!
Shores Lake Recreation Area
Shores Lake Recreation Area offers an 82 acre lake with a swimming beach. Soak up the beautiful sites while enjoying boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking! For more information, click here.
***This is not an ATV/UTV trail. The TransAmerica Trail is the cross-country adventure ride of a lifetime that spans from coast to coast with mostly off-pavement travel. From scenic vistas and unique attractions to rough terrain and challenging conditions, the TAT presents every rider with the opportunity for an unforgettable journey and memories that will last a lifetime. Depending on the weather and location, riders may face challenges including mud, sand, snow, and rocks among others. As the trail is made up of dirt, gravel, forest, farm, and brief sections of paved roads, The TAT may be traversed using either a dual-sport motorcycle or a 4×4 vehicle.
